The Major Types Of Pallet Racking Systems

The storage of the palletised materials wouldn’t have been possible in the present times without the pallet racking structures. These particular structures have the skids or pallets in which the palletised materials are being placed. There are several types of pallet racking systems and you can install such pallet racks in your warehouse to store you goods. These particular storage systems are being used along with the forklift trucks which deposit the packed pallets on the racks. The pallet racks are being widely used by the big industries, retail stores, warehouses and distribution centres. Their price ranges can also vary based on the amount of the storage which is required.

The Major Types of Pallet Racking Systems

Pallet Racking

There are several pallet racking systems available and you can choose the best one according to your requirements. These include the following:

#1. Drive through & drive-in – These specific types allow the forklift to drive directly into a storage bay. The drive-in system uses one position as the entry & exit point. As because of this having only one entry & exit point, this is a Last-un, First Out (LIFO) storage method. Each bay is only used for one product type. The drive-through rack enables a forklift truck to enter from every side of the bay, unlike the drive-in rack. Hence this uses a method of storage which is referred to as First-In, First-Out (FIFO). This one can be loaded on one end and off-loaded on the other end, enabling a FIFO (First-In, First-Out) product rotation.

#2. Motorised mobile pallet racks –This is referred to as a compact mobilized or mobile industrial, or motorized mobile racks. They make fixed aisles more productive by building more rows of pallets onto sturdy rolling carriages. Then the setup is placed on the floor tracks. With remote control, the pallet racks can be moved sideways along the floor tracks and forms a mobile floating aisle. They are flexible and you can include more storage space in these pallet racks.

#3. Selective pallet racking – This is a very commonly bought pallet racking system as this is cheaper and offers easy access to all the products. This can be purchased when stock is quickly depleted and replenished. Several wholesale, as well as retail stores, use the selective pallet racks. There are majorly two styles – the roll-formed and the structural racking system. The former has a teardown design. The pallets are laid on the horizontal beams which are in turn fastened together with movable clops which allow for height adjustments easily. The roll-formed selective racks are indeed perfect for storing the items of various sizes. In the case of structural rack designs horizontal load beams are linked to the vertical frames with bolts. These can tolerate the heavier materials.

#4. Gravity, dynamic or pallet flow systems – These are usually high-density pallet racking options which used in depth in order to increase the storage area. This consists of a sloped/inclined rail with a few rollers which enable the loaded pallets to move quite smoothly along the slanted plane. These also very well feature robust braking systems which are used for regulating the speed of a moving pallet. They can be either FIFO or LIFO inventory handling systems.

If you are looking forward to organizing your distribution centre or warehouse, then you should necessarily consider one amongst these pallet racking systems as per your requirement and usage. If you do not have any idea then you can take suggestions from the experts. They can customize your pallet racking system according to your needs and they can save your floor space too.
